Compliance to environmental directives

Evolis is an environmentally friendly company, and has quickly complied with the two directives relating to its industry:

The RoHS directive ("Restriction of the use of certain Hazardous Substances" in English - 2002/95/EC) is about withdrawing six substances of selected electric and electronic devices (right from their design stage) and reducing the environmental impact of end-of-life products. The restricted use of dangerous substances during design phase also results in lowering the cost of recycling.

To adhere to the directive, Evolis has ensured that the manufacturing processes of its suppliers and partners are compliant, by endorsing used component and any new manufacturing process.

The WEEE directive ("Waste Electrical & Electronic Equipment" - 2002/96/EC): covers the management of "waste" products, and supplements RoHS. The purpose is to specifically minimize the environmental impact of electronics and electric devices that are no longer used. The directive envisages managing end-of-life products by asking manufacturers to collect and process any such product marketed after August 13, 2005.

Environmental policy

Part assembly for producing of plastic card printers is not known to be polluting. Yet, the fundamentals of the Evolis Environmental Policy have focused on environmental protection, safety and hygiene of workstations, as well as energy and natural resources preservation.

At Evolis, the policy is implemented daily as follows:

  • Provide a healthy and safe work environment from a hygiene and safety standpoint; ensure that employees are properly trained and that they benefit from the appropriate safety and emergency equipment.
  • Preserve natural resources by re-using and recycling materials, while reducing as much as possible raw material and water consumption.
  • Ensure that the manufacturing processes do not damage the environment. Prevent air pollution, water pollution, and any other pollution. Reduce risks of accidents and impact on health. Eliminate waste in a safe and responsible way.
  • Use energy responsibly by controlling consumption and reducing it when feasible.

Evolis Environmental Policy achievements include:

  • A building that leverages solar energy to heat water for the sanitary facilities.
  • A basin for rainwater harvesting used for watering the company parks and for sanitation.
  • Selective sorting of daily waste, not only in manufacturing but also in the administrative areas
